Jim Griffith is the founding principal of Toi, Toi, Toi! Consulting, a visual and performing arts consulting firm dedicated to delivering artistic and business solutions that help cultural institutions remain mission-driven while achieving financial sustainability. A Juilliard-trained violist and seasoned nonprofit leader with decades of experience in arts administration, presenting, producing, and performance, Jim is a respected figure in the field.
Throughout his illustrious career, Jim has demonstrated exceptional skill in blending thoughtful artistic vision with strategic business acumen, leading to audience growth, organizational revitalization, and long-term sustainability. As founder, president, and CEO of Florida Arts, Inc., he established and led the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers, Florida, for over 27 years (from 1997 until stepping down in 2024). Starting with the vision to create a cultural hub in downtown Fort Myers, Jim secured a 99-year lease on a historic federal courthouse building, raised more than $14 million through grants and capital campaigns, and transformed the dilapidated structure into a world-class visual and performing arts center. Under his leadership, the venue became a vibrant educational and cultural destination serving Southwest Florida, hosting diverse programming in art, music, theater, and more. He was honored with the Key to the City of Fort Myers for these achievements.
A versatile musician and administrator, Jim performed as a violist with the Naples Philharmonic from 1989 to 2022, he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and many of the finest concert halls around the world. Jim co-founded organizations such as the Palm Beach Chamber Music Festival, Gulf Coast Music School, and New Arts Festival. In 2024, he transitioned to the role of executive director at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival in New Mexico, bringing his expertise to one of the nation's premier chamber music organizations.
Through Toi, Toi, Toi! Consulting, Jim provides tailored strategies to a range of clients, from established cultural organizations and presenting series to academic institutions, music schools, individual artists, and ensembles. His consultancy draws on extensive experience in artistic curation, programming diversification, fundraising, facility development, and strategic planning to help clients achieve artistic excellence and financial stability.
Beyond his professional roles, Jim is an active contributor to the arts community. He has served in leadership capacities across various organizations and is recognized for his mentorship and advocacy in advancing performing arts initiatives, grounding his arts leadership consulting in lived experience across the sector.
Jim holds training from The Juilliard School and is a native Floridian with deep roots in Southwest Florida.
